I just booked our family session for this year!! I am beyond excited for it. As a photographer I always get wrapped up into taking others' photos but neglect my own family's. Another big reason I seem to put it off is I don't always like how I look. I'm definitely older now and have gained some weight (I wish I looked how I did when I first thought I was fat, you all know what I am talking about). So I haven't been excited in investing money in documenting myself on film. I came across an article not too long ago (http://www.popsugar.com/moms/Why-Moms-Need-Picture-36295809) about the importance of being in photos with your children, not just for you but for your children. It made me start thinking.. My daughter is going to grow up and wonder where her mother was during her whole childhood (because I'm always behind the camera). I want to have those memories and I know my husband and daughter will cherish them too.
I also understand the purpose of a nicely posed family photo. They look very nice and are great for greeting cards. I am investing in lifestyle photographer, which is my passion. When I look back at family photos from when I'm younger I am not looking back at the church family directory, but I'm looking back at me playing barbies, or from the family BBQ, or watching TV with my father. Those are the photos that invoke a genuine emotion and memory. Please check out this amazing photographer who I am honored to be documenting our family!! http://kelleydealphotography.com/
