I also understand the purpose of a nicely posed family photo. They look very nice and are great for greeting cards. I am investing in lifestyle photographer, which is my passion. When I look back at family photos from when I'm younger I am not looking back at the church family directory, but I'm looking back at me playing barbies, or from the family BBQ, or watching TV with my father. After we got these cute shots of Henry in his fashionable outfit, he was pretty much calling it quits!! Had he not gotten the taste of some sweet frosting he may not have had a cake smash session!! FOR THE LOVE OF CAKE! I love watching babies' reaction when they have a whole cake all to themselves!

I am not a studio newborn photographer, but I do very much enjoy documenting their first days in the hospital or at home. I also volunteer with an organization called The Tiny Footprint Project, where I photography babies in the NICU. Sometimes when photographing in a hospital you don't always have the best lighting conditions. In the NICU I typically do sessions in there is literally not a single window. I do not use flash, and boy is natural light nice. I was so excited to do my first session at Womack (thinking there would be glorious window light), but it was an overcast afternoon and the only small window was down a mini hallway. I was slightly heartbroken. With that being said, I still love how these first few moments as a larger family turned out. You can really see the bond and love these two have to share with one another and now their new adorable baby boy. This amazing mother is at the end of her third trimester and still going strong with yoga and her other exercise routines. Keeping mom healthy keeps the baby healthy! What's more important than that! ]]>Milk baths have also become popular in photography as the symbolize purity. The white in the water represents a clean and fresh beginning, which can mean a lot of different things for different people!
I really enjoyed capturing these images from a milk bath session. This beautiful woman was more than nervous about taking these photos. "Why?" you may ask.. "She looks amazing," you might think. We all have things about ourselves that we are not always the most secure about. Those can be physical things, emotional things, personality traits, etc. Most of the time we are the only ones that see those weaknesses or "problems."
We all know we are supposed to love ourselves for exactly who we are and who we were designed to be, but that can be hard. I don't believe you shouldn't work to achieve attainable goals to make yourself better, we should never settle. But we are amazing individuals who have a lot of amazing things to give those we love. We are the world to someone, and if you're lucky you are the world to many. So we need to embrace and love ourselves RIGHT NOW.
So this amazing woman took a moment to embrace how beautiful she really is and was more than pleased with the results! It is a good feeling to be able to help someone feel beautiful!
Some people go to college at different times. Some go fresh out of High School, some go back later in life, some start off from High School and take a break then go back. We all have different motivators (mine were a career and to make my parents happy- let's be honest!). This beautiful lady's biggest motivator and cheerleader was her sweet daughter!
Not only should every college senior have some wonderful images of them taken, but every adult should! We are all beautiful and should celebrate ourselves! We don't always need an occasion for portraits!
Not only is she proud to graduate college, but she is a proud painter! I love her inspiring and emotion packed pieces.

We also went to the North Carolina 2015 State Fair. I hadn't been to the state fair since I was a young child. It was a lot of fun. Leila rode some of her first rides. I was completely in love with the garden area of the fair. They had such unique artwork, displays, and flowers. It gave me a lot of inspiration for my sad yard! We tugged Leila around in a Radio Flyer Wagon. On the very long way back to the car she was stealing cookies and half. I am not sure what I'm going to do with that little one! If you didn't make it to the fair this year I suggest you definitely give it a go next year!

I didn't get to take too many photos as I was enjoying myself, and I didn't want to be "that person" to get in the way of the hired photographer! You would be surprised how much wedding photos have changed over the years.. so. many. lit. cellphone. screens. We can't help but all want the best shot or to preserve the memory from our viewpoint!

I found out about a great organization called The Tiny Footprints Project. They provide families with babies in the NICU the opportunity to have a free lifestyle session while they're in the NICU. I am so proud to say I am one of those photographers, and am so happy to give my time with something I am so passionate about! Hopefully my gift can be a glimpse of a rainbow in the midst of a storm.

This was a great weekend for my family as my daughter and I got to hang with Daddy for four days straight (a very rare occasion). He was sick for the first two, but we got in some nice quality time and even had a few adventures!
Has anyone been to MaryBill's Cafe off of Elm Street? OH-MY-GOODNESS how did I not know about this place? I had a delicious western omelette, Mike had the Eggs Benedict, & Leila had some pancakes, eggs, and sausage (kind of). She even fed herself! Definitely check it out if you haven't already!
We even went to the park! This little girl loves slides! I can tell she's going to be trouble in elementary school as she's always climbing UP instead of sliding down! :)
We even made a special trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house! (Leila always has the right outfit!)
